Update/paperwork

Brief update:

We met with our case worker on December 28th to go over our process. We were told we could file for our I-800 right away and that we needed to update our fingerprints (FBI clearance) plus a few other documents. Overall good news as far as we were concerned because these two processes can go on concurrently.

We completed our I-800 application on monday night and turned in on tuesday. We both got fingerprinted on tuesday (it's only our sixth set of fingerprints.....); and today we heard the good news that Bethany is ready to send our complete I-800 packet (all documents from Colombia together with translations are in order, as well as a letter from Bethany). We were told our packet will be mailed later today or tomorrow.

The Department of State has 90 days to process this visa, but we are hoping/praying/begging/etc for a faster processing time. Likewise, the FBI can take up to 10 weeks to check our fingerprints, but were are hoping for less time as well.

Overall, we have done things as fast as we can. I guess we are prepared for 90 days, but of course, we would like to see ourselves fly down to Colombia much faster than that.

We received a new picture of Sebastian today. Once I scan it, I will post it here.

Happy new year everyone!

REFERRAL!

We received today the most incredible, beautiful Christmas gift we could have ever asked for! We were given a referral for a beautiful baby boy waiting for us at Los Pisingos!

Our little son was born September 10th, 2009 in Bogota, Colombia. We have named him Sebastian Mateo.

We have some updating to do for our paperwork, and are hoping we get to travel to Colombia within three to four months.

Here are his referral photos.

Blog created

I had started a caring bridge site for our second adoption but decided to rather turn this into a blog so more features, stories and photos can be added.

So this is the start of it. Nothing glamorous or sophisticated, just a way to share our journey with friends and family.

Our second adoption journey begun late last year when we were given the "green light" to start the paperwork. Our complete dossier was submitted sometime in May of 2009. We are in the witing list at Los Pisingos ( the same adoption house Santi came from). We did not give a preference for gender, and are only hoping for a healthy infant/child.

So for now we are just waiting. We are not terribly anxious at this point and are concentrating on enjoying Santi everyday.

Thank you for joining us in this journey!
